Workshops on making and using LITTLE BOOKS
NOTE: Some information about making Little Books is also available on the ELTC Conference page here.
A "Little Book" is made from a single sheet of paper (even recycled paper, with one clean side, will do) folded and with a small scissor 'snip' to create a tiny book consisting of a cover and six internal pages.
Even young students can quickly learn to create their own little books to compose stories inside, and teachers can create little books for the children to enjoy. A single book can be unfolded and photocopied to be refolded and enjoyed by many. The pictures and/or writing can even be created on a computer, and then a number of copies printed out and shared.
The little books can further be enhanced by incorporating pop-up items within the pages. Not only can the teacher create pop-up stories, but young learners can also be taught to easily to create pop-ups.
This page includes manuals for teaching the creation and use of Little Books through several stages, as well as PowerPoint files to download.
Also there are examples of Little Books and Big Books created from the same ideas to be used for Shared Reading - the learners can have their own little copy while sharing a big book with the class.
